TAG Heuer Aquaracer

TAG Heuer is most commonly known for legendary watches inspired by motorsport. I don’t think anybody needs an introduction to the Monaco or Carrera lines. These timepieces form the brand’s backbone, though they are not the only popular sellers. TAG Heuer also has something to offer on the diving-watch front: the Aquaracer.

You’ll often hear remarks about how similar this watch looks to other models. As strange as it may sound, all diving watches are, in general, pretty similar in terms of aesthetics. However, the real highlight of the Aquaracer does actually lie in its looks. The simple colors, the shine of the dial, and the touch of orange on the second hand all contribute to a great all-around sports watch. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer works well on a bracelet or rubber strap, has an automatic movement, and is water resistant up to 300 m (984 ft, more than you’ll ever need). And the price? Well, it’s very competitive to say the least.

Enthusiast’s Corner: Rare or Exceptional Timepieces

 A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition

Every timepiece that has ever come out of the Lange factory in Glashütte is a piece of art. I’m talking about post-1990, as the brand has an admittedly somewhat checkered past. Since it’s reintroduction to the watch world, this member of the Richemont Group just can’t stop amazing us. Their craftsmanship, design, and execution are all superb. Take the 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition, for example.

While the 1815 is best known for its time-only version, this chronograph is a work of art and very popular among fans of the brand. Its 18-karat white gold case houses Lange‘s in-house caliber L951.5, a manually wound, flyback, column wheel chronograph. With its size of 39.5 mm and thickness of only 11mm, this watch is contemporary in its feel yet has a vintage touch, thanks especially to its silver dial. Flip the watch over and you’re looking at the beautiful movement of the 1815 Chronograph Boutique Edition. It is truly a piece of art to be appreciated by watch fans.

Iconic Timepieces: Great Value for Your Money

Rolex Datejust

When discussing legendary watches, or icons if you will, you could mention almost any Rolex: from the usual suspects like the Submariner and the Daytona to the more niche ones such as the Oysterquartz. Perhaps the most affordable and versatile of the bunch is the legendary Datejust. The Rolex Datejust needs no introduction. It has been one of the most beloved and best-selling Rolex models for over 70 (!) years.

It has graced the wrists of ordinary people, celebrities, politicians, and explorers and has been produced in thousands of iterations. Yet the basic characteristics of the watch remained the same: a 36 mm case, a Cyclops lens above the date window, a fluted or engine turned bezel, and a jubilee bracelet. Of course, other variants do exist, but to me, these features best characterize the Rolex Datejust. It’s not only a must-have in any watch collection but also a versatile watch: you can dress it down with denim and a t-shirt or pair it with a suit.
